Rural Electric Economic Development (REED)

GROW SD provides financing for spec houses developed by non-profit organizations or private developers. Contact Lori Moen for more information at 605-268-5176.
Housing Enhancement Loan Program (HELP)
This program provides an incentive for builder members of the South Dakota Home Builders Association to build speculative homes. The program is a partnership with the South Dakota Home
Builders Association and the South Dakota Housing Development Authority whereby the South Dakota Housing Development Authority makes low-interest construction loans to builder members
of the South Dakota Home Builders Association for speculative homes. Must be a member of a local home builder association in South Dakota.

HOME Program
South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) provides funds to developers and/or owners for acquisition, new construction, and rehabilitation of affordable housing. The typical financing package would consist of 10% owner equity, 40% conventional loan and 50% HOME funds. The HOME funds are loaned at a 0% interest rate with variable repayment terms.

Housing Opportunity Fund
South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) administers the Housing Opportunity Fund, which may be used for new construction or the purchase and rehabilitation of rental or homeownership housing, housing preservation, including home repair grants and grants to make homes more accessible to an individual with disabilities, homelessness prevention activities, and community land trusts. Any for-profit entity, nonprofit entity, tribal government, housing authority, political subdivision of this state or agency of such subdivision, or agency of this state is eligible to apply for funding.

Community Housing Development Program (CHD)
South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) may provide financial assistance for development of rental housing opportunities, based on the needs identified by community housing studies. Funds may be used for households at or below 120% of the Area Median Income. Public or private nonprofits or profit-oriented individual(s), corporations, partnerships, limited partnerships or organizations can apply for the CHD funds. Learn more >
